Going Green

Global warming is a big problem in the world right now. Environmental groups are trying to convince people that global warming is real. Anything and everything people can do now to "save the planet" should be done.

One of the first things people can do is not drive as much as they are used to doing. Walking or traveling by train or bus will save on gas emission of all the cars. In cleaning products, people should use the products that are natural or "green," so as not to pollute the atmosphere.

When building homes, people should especially take note that using foam insulation is better and more efficient than fiberglass. Use countertops that are made of recycled glass and stone mixture rather than granite. Using solar panels for heating and using geothermal wells to cool the home in the summer, and heat it in the winter. Also, a water system can be used to recycle rain water and use this water for the lawn.

Everyone should recycle, which will increase energy efficiency. Be careful to save water with low-flow shower heads and faucets. Try to reduce the use of electricity. Turn off lights and unplug appliances and computers. Also, using compact florescent lighting saves energy by 30%.

Many of these green products used are more costly than the original products, but, in the long run, people are trying to save the world for their children and grandchildren. These products will also save people money on gas and electricity in homes.
